The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning that some heartburn medications may increase the risk of hip, wrist and spine fractures in high doses or with long-term use. CNN reports that brand name proton pump inhibitors such as Nexium®, Prevacid®, Prilosec®, Zegerid® and Protonix®, as well as over-the-counter versions of some medications are involved in the warning.
