Some prescription medicine affects sperm countsNatural medicine is important for a growing number of couples who are having difficulty conceiving, it has been reported.

One in seven couples experience trouble with fertility, with this figure forecast to double in the next decade, reported Natural News.

A recent animal study from Austria linked infertility with the consumption of genetically-engineered food, sparking calls from Greenpeace Internation for GE crops and food to be withdrawn.

Natural health practitioners recommend an organic diet which is higher in mineral content and B vitamins, selenium, Vitamin E and iron.

Food to avoid is gluten, wheat, alcohol and caffine, which have been most commonly linked to infertility.

According to the National Institutes of Health, men are responsible for between 30 to 40 per cent of infertility cases, which is classed as when couples have not conceived for more than a year.

Heavy marijuana use and some prescription drugs have a large impact on sperm count.
