Eating raisins and dates can improve healthPeople who incorporate certain natural foods into their diet can improve their overall health, according to a West Virginia newspaper.

The Herald-Dispatch is reminding its readers about the benefits of dates and raisins, particularly in the area of dental care.

Dates, which contain the compound fluorine, have been shown to help people treat signs of tooth decay, according to the article. Raisins are also beneficial to one’s oral health thanks to the phytochemicals it has that inhibit the growth of bacteria in the mouth.

Adhering to a diet of whole food nutrition can also improve one’s general health. Both dates and raisins provide the body with fiber, vitamins, amino acids and minerals. Also, people with poor dental health can increase their risk of developing heart disease and diabetes.

Other heart healthy foods people can incorporate into their diet include blueberries, which have been described as one of the top disease-fighting foods, and salmon, which contains the nutrient omega-3, states WebMD.

The American Heart Association recommends people eat omega-3 rich foods twice a week for benefits that go beyond heart health.

Some people may want to add nutritional supplements to their diet to support whole food nutrition."ADNFCR-2035-ID-19081323-ADNFCR
