McDonalds is healthy fast food?

McDonalds is among the top ten healthiest fast food chains in the country, according to Health Magazine.
It may be surprising for some to hear the restaurant, which came in at number eight on the list, known for supersized burgers and fries is one of the healthier chains to eat at. However, as the magazine explained, it all depends on the choices people make from the menu.
Frances Largeman-Roth, Health’s senior food and nutrition editor, recently told the Early Show on CBS there were healthy options for customers on McDonald’s menu, provided they were willing to make some sacrifices.
For example, the Grilled Chicken Classic sandwich and wraps are good choices, as long as people skip out on the mayo or sauce, said Largeman-Roth. Children can get Happy Meals with a side of apple dippers instead of fries and low-fat milk or fruit juice instead of soda.
The top chain on Health Magazine’s list was Panera Bread, which has a menu of soup, salads and sandwiches.
While the chains may not be whole food nutrition, they may provide a healthy option for families either with busy schedules or maneuvering around a tight budget.
