Possible proof of red wine slowing aging process

For the health-conscious holiday shopper, this year’s item to get may be a robust bottle of wine.
While the benefits of conservatively drinking red wine have been touted in the past, researchers may have uncovered a clue as to why a glass of the rosy liquid may be key to a healthy lifestyle.
Researchers at Harvard Medical School found resversatrol, an ingredient in red wine, may activate the protein sirtuim that could stop or reverse the aging process.
Dr David Sinclair led the research team and said despite the new finding, sirtuim’s role in aging was not proved, the New York Times reports.
"We are careful not to say this is the cause of aging, but based on everything we know it’s not a bad hypothesis," said Sinclair in the article.
This is only one of the possible benefit of drinking red wine.
It has been reported that red wine may prevent breast cancer, heart disease and fight off the common cold. And last month it was reported that resversatrol may also assist in deterring Alzheimer’s disease.
Those interested in the benefits of red wine are recommended to drink one to two glasses a day.
