Dr. Cutler’s Whole Food Recipes… Winter Crisp

Winter Crisp
Filling:
1⁄2 cup sugar
3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp lemon peel, grated
3⁄4 tsp lemon juice
5 cup apples, unpeeled and sliced
1 cup cranberries
To prepare the filling, combine the sugar, flour and lemon peel in a medium bowl and mix well. Add lemon juice, apples and cranberries. Stir until all the ingredients are mixed together. Spoon the mixture into a 6-cup baking dish.
Topping:
2⁄3 cup rolled oats
1⁄3
cup brown sugar, packed
1⁄4 cup whole wheat flour
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp soft margarine, melted
To prepare the topping, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon in a small bowl. Add the melted margarine and stir until all the ingredients are mixed. Sprinkle the topping over filling. Bake in a 375º oven for approximately 40-50 minutes or until the filling is bubbly and the top is brown. Serve either warm or at room temperature.
