Don’t think twice, you’ll be fat

This doesn’t bode well for people who love to bring pizza to brainstorming sessions.
A new study has found some heavy thinkers may succumb to overeating as a way to deal with stress, UK newspaper the Telegraph reports.
Researchers from the University of Laval in Quebec studied 14 students and monitored their food intake after three different tasks, according to the article. The tasks were relaxing in a sitting position, reading and summarizing a text and completing a series of tests on a computer focusing on memory, attention and vigilance.
After each task, the students were invited to eat as much as they wanted from a buffet and found students 203 more calories after summarizing the text and 253 more after the computer tests, states the Telegraph.
Jean-Philippe Chaput, the main author of the study, told the news provider the calorie increase may be caused by the stress of intellectual work.
"Caloric overcompensation following intellectual work, combined with the fact we are less physically active when doing intellectual tasks, could contribute to the obesity epidemic currently observed in industrialized countries," said Chaput.
Instead of bringing that pizza, heavy thinkers may be interested in natural supplements that can help ease stress.
