Health risks associated with smoking include increased risk of cancer, breathing problems and heart disease.A new study published in the American Journal of Medicine has found a link between smoking and lower back pain.

According to Reuters, researchers in Finland analyzed the findings from 40 previous studies involving more than 300,000 adults and adolescents.

They say that even though their findings don’t suggest that smoking causes back pain, the data does suggest a "fairly modest" association between the two. Scientists say possible explanations for the correlation include reduced blood supply to the spine, increased risk of osteoporosis and the increased circulation of pain conducting chemicals in the blood from smoking.

Smoking is associated with many health problems including the increased risk of certain cancers, breathing and lung problems, heart disease, infertility and dental issues.

There are several natural ways that may help individuals quit smoking. They include acupuncture and hypnotherapy as well as nutritional supplements containing lobelia, St. John’s wort and ginseng.

According to WebMD, there are many health benefits associated with quitting smoking. It lowers your blood pressure and reduces your pulse after only 20 minutes. Within a day, oxygen and carbon monoxide levels in your blood return to normal and risk of a heart attack decreases. Long-term benefits include a reduced risk for coronary heart disease, stroke, lung cancer and other cancers.ADNFCR-2035-ID-19554062-ADNFCR
