Despite how bad some people’s New Year’s hangovers were, vitamins may have had worse one thanks to a multitude of studies questioning their effectiveness against various diseases.
But there are still plenty of health benefits from boosting your diet with vitamins. A Boston newscaster spoke with a nutrition expert to gain more insight into vitamin supplements, theBostonChannel.com reports.
NewCenter 5′s Liz Brunner spoke with Walter Willett, from Harvard School of Public Health, who said people should still be taking vitamins, according to the article.
He suggested adults over the age of 50 should look for B12 vitamins on labels to maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells.
"There’s also quite a substantial proportion of adults over age 50 who are short in vitamin B12, because we don’t absorb it as well when we get older," Willett told the news provider.
Vitamin D is also an important vitamin to find, especially for people living in cold weather places where the sun may not shine as often in the winter months, according to Willett.
