With more cases of swine flu being reported every day, we have several tips to help prevent this illness from invading your family. Clearly, the stronger your immune defenses are the less likely you are to contract the swine flu, or any other type of flu. And you can easily boost your immunity through your diet.

The key to prevention is consuming nutrient-rich foods, mostly from raw living sources. When you eat more than 50 percent raw foods, you can stop the inflammation triggered by processed, refined or even cooked or baked foods.

Plus, you should adhere to these suggestions either during the flu season or as soon as flu symptoms start…

Avoid refined sugar because it suppresses your immune system.

Get more than enough rest which allows your energy and immune system to focus on your physical symptoms.

Maintain peace and optimism since your thoughts can affect your physical health.

Wash your hands often because viruses can spread from touching contaminated objects like doorknobs, phones and computer keyboards, plus when you shake hands, cough or sneeze.

Contain your coughs and sneezes by directing them toward your shoulder, upper arm or into a tissue. Viral particles can float in the air for several minutes.

Stay hydrated with fluids. Powerful tonics that can help fight viral infections are herbal teas containing cats claw, ginseng and ginger root, and chamomile tea can help calm your nausea.

High doses of vitamin C inhibit viral activity and boost your immune system.

Allicin-containing garlic supplements have been scientifically proven to help reduce common colds by 63 percent and can be taken throughout the flu season.

Echinacea provides effective help in treating influenza-like symptoms.

DHEA is a hormone that has been proven to boost your immune response and effectively fight some viral infections.

Melatonin offers beneficial protection from viruses.

Lactoferrin is an immune booster that inhibits viral attachment to cells.

If you’ve ever suffered from the pain and discomfort of swollen and inflamed joints, you know how it can prevent you from doing many of the activities that you love—and rob you of much of your joy in life. But a powerful yet safe enzyme known as serrapeptase—first discovered more than 25 years ago in the intestine of a little silk moth—can help dissolve blood clots and other sources of inflammation that can cause pain in your joints. Read on to find out about this healing secret of the silk moth.

Scientists have discovered that the potent enzyme found in the intestines of silk moths used to dissolve its cocoon can also help your body dissolve blood clots, scar tissue and damaged cells. These conditions, if left alone in your body, can cause inflammation and joint pain. What is the name of this healing enzyme?

It is known as serrapeptase, and it’s a natural way to help regulate and eliminate inflammation. It does this in two ways:

Helps shrink swelling around injured spots—To break out of its cocoon, the silk moth secretes the serrapeptase enzyme to thin its shell. To regulate inflammation, serrapeptase helps thin trapped fluids that collect around injured muscles and tendons. This helps reduce joint problems.

Repairs tissues—Serrapeptase has the uncanny knack for seeking out damaged or dead tissues… blood clots… scar tissue… and a host of other foreign invaders that can trigger inflammation. When it finds the trouble spots, serrapeptase quickly helps dissolve these problems—and removes them from your joints and muscles. The result is fast and effective relief from inflammation pain.

The truth is… serrapeptase is not a new discovery. For more than 25 years it’s been the supplement of choice as an alternative to ibuprofen, salicylates and potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Joint sufferers have hailed its miraculous healing abilities in Japan, Germany, Europe and Asia.

That’s because serrapeptase has been scientifically tested and demonstrated safe to help relieve:

Joint pain

Swelling from sprains and torn ligaments

Post-operative inflammation

Tissue swelling

Cardiovascular problems

Varicose veins

It eats up blood clots, cysts, non-living tissue, arterial plaque and inflammation in all of its forms—and it does this without causing gastrointestinal side effects like many prescriptions and over-the-counter meds.

In one German study, 66 patients with knee surgery were given serrapeptase or a placebo. Just three days after surgery the serrapeptase group experienced a 50 percent reduction in swelling compared to the placebo group.

What’s more, the serrapeptase group reported significant reduction in joint discomforts. In fact, by the 10th day, most of their aches had completely vanished!

Now that’s a big result from an enzyme found in the tiny silk moth. And you can reap the benefits of this safe yet potent remedy—and help rid your body of painfully swollen and inflamed joints—through a high-quality supplement containing serrapeptase.

Although winter is a beautiful time of the year, with it comes low temperatures, shorter daylight hours and snow. Cold weather can wreak havoc with your heart’s health. Many of you aren’t even aware that you’re at risk until you have a heart attack, so it’s very important to know your risk factors.

Your risk of heart disease increases if you’re older, a smoker, overweight, have high blood pressure, don’t exercise enough or have a stress-filled life. And heart problems can also be hereditary. If you’re at risk, you must be especially careful during the winter months. Why?

Colder temperatures cause your blood vessels to get smaller, which reduces the flow of blood and oxygen supply to your heart.

Your blood becomes thicker when temperatures drop, and this can cause an increase in the risk of clotting.

Cold weather can lead to an increase in blood pressure, which puts more stress on your heart.

If you’re not used to exercising, your risk of a heart attack during winter weather may increase from overexertion. For example, you shovel snow when you’re only accustomed to lifting the TV remote.

If you don’t know the dangers of being outdoors in cold weather, you could suffer from hypothermia—an abnormally low body temperature. Most deaths from this condition are caused by heart failure.

During the winter time, “there is a change in the ratio of daylight to dark hours, which changes the hormonal balance, and the hormones involved such as cortisol, can lower the threshold for a cardiovascular event,” said Stephen P. Glasser, M.D., from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Medicine in a health report.

And now that you know your risk factors for heart disease, and the extra strain cold weather can put on your heart, you can be better prepared to protect your heart’s health during these harsh winter months.

Vegetables are healthy friends to have, despite how some people may feel towards them.

A new study from the Journal of Nutrition suggests eating more vegetables may significantly reduce women’s risk of developing endometrial cancer, which affects the uterine lining.

Researchers in Buffalo, New York examined the health and diet histories in two groups: 541 women with endometrial cancer and a matched number of women with no history of cancer. Women who ate more vegetables in their diet lowered their risk of developing endometrial cancer by 50 percent when compared to those who didn’t eat as much vegetables.

Diets that incorporated nutrients such as fiber, vitamin E, beta-carotene, lutein and folate, which can be found in many vegetables, were linked to lowering incidences of cancer.

However, Dr Susan E McCann, lead author of the study, said the decreased risk may also be related to the foods women are not eating.

“With endometrial cancer there are several reasons why diet may be important. One of the main reasons is obesity. Obesity is a very strong risk factor for endometrial cancer, and it’s related to diet,” McCann said.

People who don’t like certain vegetables can receive some of the cancer-fighting nutrients through supplements.

Can broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables—Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and cabbage—help protect smokers from cancer? A new study presents promising research.

According to researchers led by Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s Li Tang, it appears that people who currently smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day—or previously were heavy smokers—get special cancer protection from eating these healthy veggies. In the study, those who had seldom—or never—eaten cruciferous vegetables were 20 to 55 percent more likely to have cancer than those who regularly included the vegetables in their diets.

But the researchers were quick to point out that if you continue to smoke, or smoke too long, then there is nothing to help you prevent cancer and other diseases. So, take it from me—just quit!

Dear Dr. Cutler,

After looking at your publication that arrived today, “Seven Scary Screw-Ups Doctors Make—And How to Avoid Each One,” I thought you may be interested to know that 13 years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The biopsy showed that it was highly aggressive and my doctor wanted to do surgery right away. After looking at the side effects of the cut, burn and poison route, I chose to do a diet therapy.

I traveled to Mexico and began the Gerson Diet Therapy. When I asked my doctor how long I would live if I chose not to have the surgery, he said about two years. I said, “What about trying the Gerson Diet Therapy for two or three months? If it doesn’t work then I’ll have the surgery.” He replied, “I don’t know what that therapy is. I have never heard of it. But whatever it is, it’s a lie.”

Dr. Cutler, after 13 years, I am still here and doing fine. Thank you for having the courage to stand up and educate the public on alternative options despite the criticism I am sure you receive from the “traditional arena.” I plan to subscribe to Easy Health Options™ soon!

—Blaine P.

Dear Blaine,

I appreciate your letter and I am very happy that all is well with you. I’m pleased that you were willing to try an alternative treatment first instead of immediately submitting to traditional methods. Your doctor’s response to your suggestion of first trying a diet therapy is, unfortunately, all too typical. I admire your courage in standing up for yourself and taking control of your own health.

All the best!
Michael Cutler, M.D

And although heart disease…

According to 2008 statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is estimated that more than 700,000 Americans had a heart attack for the first time—and more than 430,000 experienced a second attack.

And although heart disease is considered by many to be a “man’s disease,” it really is no respecter of gender—it is the leading cause of death for both American men AND women. Scary? You bet it is!

But take heart! There are things you can do to protect your all-important organ. I’ve mentioned to you how to understand the risk factors for a heart attack—and how to zero in on the risks that you can do something about. And now we’re going to look at another way to determine your risk category for a heart disaster—getting your blood tested.

In order to do that, you need to visit your doctor regularly, depending of course, on your health status. Why? Because there are certain heart markers in your blood that can tell you if your arteries are already hardening.

If your doctor finds the following in your blood results, you should immediately take action to protect your heart and prevent a heart disaster:

High fibrinogen—This could be an indication that your blood is clotting too much.
High C-reactive protein—This is an indication that acute inflammation is occurring somewhere in your body—possibly inside your blood vessels.

High glucose—This condition can cause a heart attack indirectly by the weakening of blood vessels, a familiar condition of a long-term case of diabetes.

High insulin—This occurs with Type 2 diabetes.

High iron—This is an indication of problems with your liver.

High triglycerides—This condition is tied to high insulin levels and high sugar intake over time.

Low testosterone—This is a sign that because of aging, youth hormones are decreasing.

Metabolic syndrome—One in four people over age 30 are believed to already have this syndrome, which is mainly characterized by high insulin levels. Too much insulin causes “inflammation” in your blood and can initiate clotting in your arteries, including inside your heart and brain.

Now you can see there are many things going on inside your body that can affect your heart negatively. So I encourage you to see your doctor regularly and have your blood tested. This way you can get a heads-up on hidden problems that can put you at risk for a heart disaster.

A new study has revealed eating foods with a high glycemic index may trigger the same area in the brain associated with addiction to cigarettes and drugs.

Simon Thornley, lead researcher of the study, said people who eat a significant amount of high-carb foods experienced loss of control, compulsion to continue eating the same foods to achieve the same “buzz” and suffered from withdrawal if they quit “cold turkey,” the Australian news provider, the Age reports.

The study is the first time high glycemic index has been suspected as a reason for the “addictive potential of foods,” according to the article. Some scientists involved in the study have gone as far as stating certain foods, such as cornflakes and soft drinks, may need warning labels about their addictive nature.

While some scientists debate the nature of highly addictive foods, a separate study from Duke University has shown health benefits for people employing a low-carb diet, especially those living with diabetes, HealthJockey.com reports. After six months, diabetics participating in the study found a decrease in their blood-sugar levels, as well as some patients losing weight.

However, those who may not be able to adhere to a low-carb diet could look into natural supplements to lower their blood sugar level.

Can consuming oatmeal really increase your endurance so that you can have a more beneficial workout? According to British researchers, it definitely can!

The researchers found that if you eat oatmeal about three hours before exercising, your endurance level raises significantly. Why? Because the oats will stimulate your body to burn fat quicker to fuel your muscles. Look for whole grain cereals containing oats, or incorporate oats into homemade muffins or cookies for snacks on-the-go!

If your sex machine seems to have run out of gas, the reason may be in your mind. You might not realize it, but your brain is your largest sex organ. So if your brain isn’t healthy or you’re not in the right frame of mind, you’re going to have trouble getting your motor running.

But the good news is—eating a nutritious diet, taking brain-boosting supplements and summoning some powerful healthy thoughts (sexual fantasies) can all aid your engine in starting well and staying tuned-up.

You see, your brain is a mass of electrical circuits that control your bodily functions. Even how you think and feel can affect your internal organs. To get the electrical impulses flowing with the chemicals that arouse the desire for sensuous lovemaking, certain settings must be in proper balance. Let me explain these settings in more detail.

Just like a car that’s been sitting for several months and won’t fire right up, the hormones of sexual intimacy take some warming up—the process begins in the electrical system first. By this I mean that the subconscious mind has everything to do with the experience.

Have you ever dreamed you were young, wildly sexy and ready to make love for the first time? By imagining this scenario—or any others you choose—you’re allowing yourself to fantasize and create a sexual experience in your mind.

These can be very powerful thoughts. Practice removing all worries, stress or anger from your mind. Learn to let go of all criticisms toward your partner—focus on the “here and now” moment and let go of future fears and past guilt.

Now take your embarrassments about your physical body and laugh at them—they are one of the biggest reasons for inhibited sexual desire. If you or your partner thinks—or even if you think your partner thinks—your body is unappealing in any way—then picture yourself instead as madly-attractive and passionately sexy.

Give yourself permission to feel young and promiscuous (especially if you never were)—doing something sexually pleasing that even you may feel is forbidden. Remind yourself that one of the main reasons you exist is to celebrate your relationship by recreating your emotional and physical bond together!

Now that you’ve got your thinking on the right path, why not supplement with an all-natural solution that will help keep your arteries clear to protect your brain… help fight off brain aging… and even help increase your sexual desire and performance. Try adding Advanced Artery Solution™ from True Health™ to your health regimen today!
