Health experts say an epsom salt bath is an all-natural way to soothe muscle painLooking for all-natural muscle pain relief? A decades’ old home remedy is effective in soothing away aches, pains and joint stiffness.

Epsom salt has been used to provide relief for arthritis, sprains and sore muscles for hundreds of years. It is made up of magnesium and sulfate, both natural components in the body and both offering a wide variety of known health benefits. Magnesium reduces inflammation and relieves pain, while sulfate helps form joint proteins and detoxify the body of the residue left by medicines and environmental contaminants.

"Soaking in a bath with Epsom Salts is one of the most effective ways to introduce magnesium into the body to combat arthritis pain. In addition, magnesium is essential to producing serotonin, a mood-elevating brain chemical that creates a relaxing feeling and has a natural calming effect," said Jan Doege, president of K and S North America.

A 2005 study by the National Arthritis Data Workgroup found that more than 46 million people in the U.S. suffer from arthritis or another rheumatic condition, according to About.com. In addition, it is the most common cause of disability in America. By 2030, the number of people with arthritis is expected to rise to 67 million, reflecting a 40 percent increase.ADNFCR-2035-ID-19408665-ADNFCR
