Some restaurant meals labeled ‘xtreme’

The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), a Washington-based consumer group, has announced its annual "Xtreme Eating Awards." The awards are given to restaurant menu items that the group has deemed extremely high in calories and fat.
Among some of the well-known names making this year’s list are The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Bob Evans, Outback Steakhouse and California Pizza Kitchen.
"These chains don’t promote moderation. They practice caloric extremism, and they’re helping make modern-day Americans become the most obese people ever to walk the Earth," said CSPI executive director Michael Jacobson.
The worst food offender, according to the CSPI, is The Cheesecake Factory’s Pasta Carbonara with Chicken. Researchers say the dish has 2,500 calories and 85 grams of saturated fat – more fat than one should consume in four days.
Other offenders include California Pizza Kitchen’s Tostada Pizza with Grilled Steak, Five Guys’ Bacon Cheeseburger, P.F. Chang’s Double Pan-fried Noodles Combo and Bob Evans’ Cinnamon Cream Stacked & Stuffed Hotcakes.
Experts say the average American should consume about 2,000 calories per day, and consume no more than 20 grams of saturated fat.
